The One-offs: the SP48 is a Special Project

A one-off is the dream of every Ferrari lover coming true.

There is something true about each Ferrari models: there is at least one unique feature that makes a model a one of a kind. Design after design, a Ferrarista would pick that unique feature and speak of it with passion and desire. In aggregating these little features together, one can come closer to what a Ferrari, would be their true Ferrari. Therefore, Ferrari created the Special Projects Programme. The latest iteration is the Sp48 Unica.

What is the Special Project Programme?

Ferrari established the Special Project Programme in 2008. This division specialized in creating the One-offs —  for its most loyal customers and collectors.

The Ferrari Styling Center collaborates with the Ferrari Owner to create an exclusive design, crafted around the requirements of the client, which guarantees the genuine “one of a kind” production of the model. Each projects start with the idea forwarded by the selected client and then developed by the team of designers over the Styling Center.

With an average duration of a year, the process includes also a constant involvement of the customer in assessing the design, look at the blueprints, forms and shapes, and continue to follow the development in the verification phases.

The SP48 Unica

This latest spin-off of the Special Projects is based on the F8 Tributo blueprint. Designed by Flavio Manzoni, Director of the Styling Center, the SP48 Unica is a 2-seater berlinetta with a more aggressive design and lines, and that arrow-shaped front profile, which make the F8 tributo distinguished.

A completely redesigned front grill, and fierce looking air intakes, making the chassis looking sleek and classy at the same time. A very fluid design, easy on the eye, beautiful curves, and aggressive look. SP48 Unica is powered by a 3.9-liter twin-turbocharged V-8 tuned to deliver 710 hp and 568 lb-ft of torque.

The engine is mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic and spins the rear wheels only.

A great interpretation of a sports car evoking the racing soul of Ferrari, the SP48 Unica is another masterpiece of Enzo Ferrari’s vision, where passion and dreams come true.
