Ferrari Challenge: Balkissoon brings Fort Lauderdale to podium

This season of Ferrari Challenge is a very particular one.

COTA opened as the inaugural race of the 30th anniversary of the race series. Moreover, it marked the last season for the 488 GT3 as the official racecar of the competition. Omar Balkissoon is the newest racer for Ferrari of Fort Lauderdale, who brought home second place in the Coppa Shell.

The 30th Anniversary of Ferrari Challenge

2022 Ferrari Challenge’s debut touched down in COTA for the inauguration of the 30th season of Ferrari Challenge. In celebration of the milestone, Ferrari brought in an exclusive gathering of all models used during the historical Ferrari series. Throughout the weekend, COTA hosted an incredible number of people, from across the country.

The Competition is Growing

COTA registered a record signing for the grid, around 62 entries, including some former champions of the racing series. For example, Ferrari of Fort Lauderdale’s former driver Martin Burrowes, as well as a great amount of recent Corso Pilota Program graduates were there.

Ferrari Fort Lauderdale and Omar Balkissoon in Coppa Shell Podium

The sweet note from the COTA weekend comes in Coppa Shell with a great result from our recent Corso Pilota graduate Omar Balkissoon.

Balkissoon made it an incredible race for Fort Lauderdale with the first podium of the season at Coppa Shell, which registered 37 entries. Coming in COTA as a Corso Pilota graduate, Balkissoon managed a solid race behind winner Brian Kaminskey (Ferrari of Long Island), taking advantage of the conflict between Kaminskey and Choksi (Ferrari of Denver) which gave up to Balkissoon the runner-up, obtained after a great race the new Fort Lauderdale’s driver.
