488 GT3 Evo Showed at Ferrari of Fort Lauderdale’s Showroom
Ferrari’s 488 GT3 EVO is the ultimate representation of a constantly evolving legend.
The 488 GT3 Evo is the result of Ferrari’s desire to further refine certain aspects of one of the most successful cars in the brand’s history. Ferrari used innovative concepts gained from Ferrari’s racing history. They listened to feedback from drivers that compete with the 488 GT3. Ferrari mainly focused on aerodynamics, vehicle dynamics, ergonomics, safety, and reliability. Ferrari pushed the limits while also complying with the strict FIA regulations to develop an impressive track vehicle.
488 GT3 Evo Body:
The GT3 has a large, aerodynamic spoiler at the rear and a front carbon fiber spoiler on the lower upfront. The hood is uniquely designed to add additional downforce, while the front fascia shows a rounded front grille. Compared to other models, the GT3 Evo engine’s intake vents have larger and vertical splitters. Side-view mirrors are polished.
In regards to the rear, the diffuser’s design is elongated by the fins, which are spaced far apart from the body. The exhaust pipes are sided with a wide area around them left open. The rear also features two small fins installed in the corner of the rear fascia. The open area behind the rear tires allows good airflow from the wheels giving more grip on the road and preventing drag.
Interior:
To meet GT regulations, Ferrari build the interior around the driver seat, roll cage, racing harness, and required electronics like a data logger, tool kit, and a brake balance adjuster. For GT, drivers must be able to exit the vehicle in seven seconds from the driver side and nine seconds from the passenger side, so things like a passenger seat, center console, and the like will not be a part of the interior.
The Ultimate Racing Drivetrain:
The Ferrari 488 GT3 EVO is powered by the twin-turbocharged, 3.9-liter V-8. Expecting it to put out 600 horsepower, as that output will have to be governed to comply with GT3 regulations. The 3.9-liter is mounted to a sequential gearbox as opposed to the current seven-speed dual clutch unit.
The new generation turbo engine optimizes fuel consumption and tire wear. Weight distribution is refined by a transverse gearbox. The results are a 40% aerodynamic efficiency, and high-speed cornering overall improvement.
